Thoughts as I am going through Romans.
I am so encouraged by the word of God right now. I love that my homework is reading the Bible and doing summaries on the book of Romans this week. A lot of passages have stood out to me but just something that has blown my mind is found in chapter 9 starting in verse 19.
The question is how can God find fault in sinners if He sovereignly determined everyone’s destiny. The answer is given to us through the example of a molder and his thing molded.
You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?” But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?” Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use? What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory—Romans 9:19-23 ESV
(Paul also makes it clear that this question cannot be used as an excuse for disbelief or the sinner’s reason to sin.)
He continues to argue that it is irrational and is extremely arrogant for man to question God’s choice of certain sinners salvation.
God allows contamination in this world for 3 reasons according to John MacArthur
1.to demonstrate His wrath.
2. to make His power known
3. to put the riches of His glorious mercies on display.
“No one is treated unfairly. Some receive the justice they earn and deserve (v.6:23) and others graciously receive mercy.”
If everything was perfect and dandy all the time would you give thanks to God? Do you give thanks to Him when there is good going on in your life or do you just go to Him in prayer when your life is on the verge of ruins? Do not use God as your emergency “easy button” quick fixer upper guy…but be in prayer always giving thanks to Him who does wonderful things. The fact that you are breathing right now is enough reason to give Him thanks! Also think of promises God has for you like in v.28 in chapter 8-
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
How encouraging is that? Even the bad stuff that is going on in our lives is there for a reason to help us grow stronger and closer to the Lord.
James 1:2-3 is my middle sister’s favorite verses and I can see why.” Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters. whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”
The normal human reaction to suffering is NOT to be happy and full of joy but we have the hope of the Lord, our future is so much better than we can even imagine. one word. HEAVEN!
Okay…I am now just rambling and I doubt that anyone is actually reading this. But I have just had so much fun today putting together the dots and having the Spirit reveal so many important truths to me today. I hope everyone is having a beautiful day and if you have any prayer requests or if you ever need anyone to talk things through with know that I am here for you guys :)
Lots of love,
Kay
